Nexans Continues Technical Seminars in Iraq

After the first technical seminar held in Iraq in the end of 2018, Nexans held the second seminar in the country on February 28, 2019 with the broad participation of the technical teams of Oil and Gas institutions and organizations as well as the employees of Sulaymaniyah Electricity Authority of the Ministry of Electricity.

The seminar hosted more than 30 guests and commenced with a presentation by Işıl Bağcıoğlu, Area Sales and Marketing Director Central Asia, which she shared the world-wide units and expertises of Nexans. Subsequently, Mahmut Serhan, Business Development Deputy Manager Iraq, took the stage with a presentation on the activities of Nexans in the Middle East and Iraq, and was followed by Elie Korkmaz, Export Sales Manager responsible for the Region, who made his presentations on Liban Cable and high voltage cables.

In the meeting, Hamada Khalifa, Regional Product Manager Oil an Gas Downstream Middle East, and Seher Sarıca, Product Manager Nexans Turkey, provided detailed information about the technical characteristics of low and medium voltage cables, technical MoE specifications, accessories, fire-resistant cables, cables for Oil&Gas industries and hypron cables. Besides, the “Beyond Cables” approach of Nexans was introduced for Oil&Gas segments.

ISP, I&G and B&T segments, energy production, transformer stations, transmission lines and distribution projects were discussed thoroughly. Fire-resistant and flame retardant cables drew special attention. A great chance was created to share fire safety products about which there was an obvious lack of information in the market.

Believing that it may be leading in the further seminars, Nexans initiated an online questionnaire in order to learn the opinions and recommendations of participants. The technical seminars to support the growth expectations for Iraqi market will continue with the Nexans seminar to be held in Basra in the 2nd quarter of 2019.
